Does It Matter How We Worship God ?
About building God's old testament temple, David said in I Chronicles 29:1 "the work is great: for the place is not for man, but for the Lord God." This verse expresses the truth that though the people would use the temple, the temple was not being made to please man, but to please God - and should be built according to his specifications. The same is true about the church and worship today. Many so called Christians think it doesn’t really matter how you worship God as long as you worship Him and “your heart is in it.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Notice the following verses regarding the question of whether or not God cares how we worship him, that is, what we do when we worship him.It Does Matter How We Worship God:John 4:23-24 … they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truthGenesis 4:3-5 (Heb 11:4 / Rom 10:17) Cain worshipped God, but unacceptablyLeviticus 10:1-2 Nadab and Abihu worshipped God, but in the wrong wayI Samuel 13:8-14 Saul worshipped God, but in an unauthorized mannerMatthew 15:9 our worship can be vain (useless, worthless)Again, most think they can just worship God in a way that pleases them and other people – so their worship services are designed to be “fun and exciting” to bring the largest crowd in. But worship “is not for man, but for the Lord God.” We should do what we do in worship in order to please Him; we should do exactly what He prescribes in the new testament.Would you have a clue about where to turn in your Bible to find out what God desires us to do when we worship Him?
