When Is Jesus' Reign Over His Kingdom ?

The premillinial position understands Jesus’ 1000 year reign (Revelation 20:4) to begin in the future relative to now. But the Bible teaches contrary to that in many places. Instead, Jesus is reigning right now.The book of Revelation itself makes this clear in chapter 19 verse 6 where it reads “Alleluia: for the Lord God ominipotent reigneth.” Acts 2:30-31 tells us that Jesus’ reign began at his resurrection from the dead as it reads “he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ.” In his time, John the Baptist had said the kingdom was “at hand” (Matthew 3:2). According to Vines’ Bible dictionary, “at hand” means “near with reference to time.” That doesn't fit if Jesus still hasn't yet started his reign some 2000 years later, does it? I Corinthians 15:24-28 teaches Jesus will reign until the end of the world (his second coming - II Peter 3:4,10); then he will hand back all authority over to the Father. So Jesus must still be reigning now; and he will not be reigning in this sense after his second coming. Passages like Revelation 17:14 (Jesus is presently "King of kings") prove Jesus is a King (over his kingdom) now, not way off in the future sometime. In Mark 9:1 Jesus had said “there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come.” So unless there are some 2000 year old people walking around on the earth today, Jesus' kingdom has already come. We should have known the reign of Christ referenced in Revelation 20 was to start back in Bible times, because the very first verse of the book Revelation let’s us know that the things predicted “must shortly come to pass.” Indeed we learn from Colossians 1:13 that Christians were being “translated” into the “kingdom of his dear Son” way back when that book was written. So Jesus' kingdom existed even then.To be sure, we are in the midst of the reign of Christ over his kingdom now, and faithful Christians are his subjects. It is only left to ask, are you one of his kingdom’s faithful citizens?
