Sabbath Keeping Also Demands

Those who claim we must still keep the Sabbath today (in spite of passages like Colossians 2:14-17) aren’t usually consistent with their argumentation. For example, Galatians 5:3 reads “For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.” Yet Sabbath keepers don’t usually keep the Sabbath as it is outlined under the old law, and they don’t keep a whole host of other old testament commands. Consistency would demand that they do. Let me detail what I mean …First, Sabbath keeping demands doing the following on Saturday (the 7th day):· Exodus 20:9-10, 31:15, 35:2 no work· Exodus 35:3 no fire (even in sub-zero weather)· Exodus 16:23 no cooking· Jeremiah 17:21-22 no carrying of a burden· Exod 31:14-15, 35:2 (Num 15:32-36) breaking the Sabbath was penalized by deathSecond, he that would be bound/obligated by any one of the Old Testament laws (like the Sabbath) is a debtor to keep all the Old Testament laws, including:· circumcision· new moon observance· feast of unleavened bread· feast of weeks (Pentecost)· feast of trumpets· day of atonement· the feast of tabernacles· the Sabbath year and year of jubilee· laws of animal sacrifice and offerings· Levitical priesthood· many, many other Old Testament laws (someone counted over 600)Conclusion: If you are going to try to bind the Sabbath, you also must bind all the regulations regarding the Sabbath and all other Old Testament laws also. You can’t just pick and choose to your fancy.
