Plurality In The One God

We’ve discussed previously how that Jesus is God (deity) even though he is not God the Father. Even the Old Testament taught a plurality in the one God. Notice the following passages:· Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (plural) created the heaven and earth – the Hebrew word for God here is in the plural, indicating (from the very first verse in the Bible) that the one God is made up of more than one entity.· Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness - Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 1:2, and John 1:3 teach that Jesus was involved in the creation, thereby showing Genesis 1:26 has to be talking about the Father and Jesus. Both then are deity.· Genesis 3:22 the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us – again showing plurality in the one Godhead.· Deuteronomy 6:4 The Lord our God (plural) is one Lord – the Hebrew word for “one” in this verse is “echad” meaning “united” (like “one flesh” in Genesis 2:24), not “yachid” which might have indicated absolutely one (as in “for an only son” in Jer 6:26).Just like the yoke can be called egg and the white can be called egg, and there still only be one egg, the Father is called God (Heb 1:9) and the Son is called God (Heb 1:8), and there is still only one God.
