I Corinthians 6:9-11 And Such Were Some Of You
I Corinthians 6:9-11 reads “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (NKJV)This past tense use of “were” in this text is commonly and correctly used to prove homosexuals can and must cease their practice in order to become and remain faithful Christians. They must terminate their sinful relationship.Well, adulterers are on the same list! They also must discontinue their sinful relationship. It logically follows then that couples who are unscripturally married (per passages like Matthew 19:9) need to terminate their sinful relationship. They must end their current adulterous marriage and seek reconciliation with their original/scriptural spouse.Just how many congregations and preachers are still standing on the truth on this matter? Practically none. Most congregations have lost their candlestick (Revelation 2:5) years ago (if they ever had one).
