Galatians 3:26-27 Teaches Baptism Is Necessary To Salvation
Galatians 3:26-27 reads “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”I’m sure the reader would agree the word "For" that begins Galatians 3:27 means "to introduce the reason" (Liddell and Scott, p.138). Therefore Galatians 3:26-27 shows that the reason "ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus," is that "as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."Notice a parallel: For ye Israelites are physically alive by faith in God and his healing power, for as many of you as have looked on the brazen serpent have been healed by God (paraphrase of Numbers 21:9). If looking on the brazen serpent was necessary to being healed in Numbers 21, then why wouldn’t the same type sentence structure prove baptism is necessary to becoming a child of God by faith? So we see then that our faith must be completed in baptism before it saves us.
