Sin Is Something You Do, Not Something You Inherit

Many are surprised to find out the theory that we inherited Adam's sin (and were therefore born totally depraved) is not in the Bible. As much as some religious people talk about it (as an excuse for their sin), you would think that you would find the doctrine mentioned on every page of the Bible. To the contrary the Bible clearly teaches that sin is something you do (like riding a bike), not something you inherit (like blond hair). Notice the following passages:Matthew 13:41 and them which do iniquityJohn 3:20 For every one that doeth evilRomans 2:9 upon every soul that doeth evilColossians 3:25 But he that doeth wrongIII John verse 11 but he that doeth evilI Peter 3:12 the Lord is against them that do evilI Peter 2:22 Who did no sinProverbs 2:14 Who rejoice to do evilRomans 13:4 But if thou do that which is evilLikewise, righteousness is something that you do - I John 3:7:Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. Not one passage in the Bible teaches the guilt of sin can be transferred from one person to another. To hear a discussion allowing both sides of this issue to be presented, go to:http://98.131.169.180/Debates/Audio/OriginalSin-StrawbridgeDonahueDebate2009 0316/index.htm
