Does "Free In Jesus" Mean Freedom To Live Like The World?

It appears the larger “community churches” have gained so many members recently because they take no stand whatsoever against sin. After all, if you can go to a church and still live like the world, then a lot of people who are not willing to make sacrifices for our saviour will attend that church. The article at this link (http://news.awmi.net/home/tag/south-carolina ) is typical of such churches and uses phraseology like “The Owens sat passively under condemning and sin-conscious teaching for nearly a decade” but “they have come to know what it means to truly be free in Jesus.” Reading the context, what is meant by “free in Jesus” was the freedom to live without concerning themselves with obeying much New Testament instruction. But to the contrary, Jesus said in John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commandments” and in I John 5:3a “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments.” So despite what some preachers tell us, we can’t love God without keeping his commandments, as they are (in effect) one and the same thing. Practically every page in the Bible demands that we serve God with our whole heart through obedience to His word:· Hebrews 5:9 "the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him"· Matt 7:21 "he that doeth the will of my Father ... shall enter into ... heaven"· Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city”· James 2:14-24-26 "by works a man is justified, and not by faith only"· I Peter 1:22 "ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth"· II Corinthians 5:10 "every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad"Why don’t we quit playing religious games and commit to giving up the “pleasures of sin” (Heb 11:25)? Don’t we appreciate what Jesus did for us (on the cross) enough to do that?
